I have heard the same message while listening to a radio program. I wouldn't be tempted to buy a song that can be listened to on YouTube. Besides, some clips are of excellent quality. I suspect that many other YouTube users behave like me.

I found that Prezi produce powerpoint alike presentations that can easily be embedded in blogs. It is a discovery for me. Thank you for the quick reply!

Pierre, re: music industry, I don't know that it is as simple as positive or negative. As you already know, the digital world has completely changed the music industry. For some people, the change has been positive. For example apps like Shazam allow people to get information on music simply by hearing it allowing them to buy immediately; bands have more power to promote themselves without having to be 'discovered' by a third party agent; iTunes has replaced BMI as the worlds biggest music distributor, etc.

I'm assuming the previous 'big boys' that aren't so big anymore find the shift very negative (smile).

One thing is certain: both artist and music consumer have a lot more power in the transaction...and that I consider a very good thing!

Nice presentation Cathy. My mother who is in her sixties, once mentionned that the new media could have a tendency to isolate people. I partly agree with that because i think it depends on each person's personnality. I would say that if someone is already introverted, it would be the medium of choice to communicate.

I agree with your proposed structure of success. I often contributed to a blog, and the popularity of the blog is rapidly decreasing. I am not being critic because i know that trying to keep a blog popular can be challenging. I know one blog who was very popular. His posts were current and relevant. To add to your digital world story, no later than last night i searched for some information on digital photography. I visited safari books online, wikipedia and i used Google who returned really relevant search resultts. In a matter of 15 minutes or less i found pretty much all the information i was looking for. This is one example among many others.

This might be a bit off topic, but i frequently visit YouTube and as you know we can listen to a song in its entire lenght for free. Looking at the big picture, do you think it had a positive impact on the music bands or industries (label company) who get a revenue from the music they sell?

Greetings from a random Hutchison (via a too-long-to-relate list of twitter accounts!)

When I first saw the John & Kate + accessories show, my expectation was that we'd see how they managed to create a support structure from friends, relatives, even (using the income from the incredibly invasive TV show) possibly by hiring someone to help with the chores and drudgery.

What I saw was two people who were both very childish, acting out roles that they weren't really prepared for.

I saw toxic passive-aggression from John, and I saw Kate replying by turning into a shrew (aptly named then)... At no point, even in their "alone time" did I see the body language of affection, of genuine caring for one another, of simple pleasure in the presence of their partner nor their children.

I suspect that if it weren't for this television show and the money they were able to get from it, they would have been split up within the first year.

The tragedy is that their kids got the short end of things, and that they will continue to do so. Unless, somehow, any income they get from their continued exhibitionism of their lives and their children's lives is tied up in trust for the kids.
