Digital World

I'm not actually sure how I became the "girl in the digital world." I'm not a programmer or an uber-geek. (Though I do actually get most of the references on the Big Bang Theory. )

I think I started coaching people on the digital world because it seemed so amazing.  More importantly, I started watching people get left behind.  After all, this has actually happened before. Once upon a time, reading was for royalty.  Then Gutenberg came along with his press, and reading became accessible to the masses.  For the first time, education and literacy wasn't the domain of a few. (Though I'm sure there were a few codgers saying they "didn't need none of that reading stuff.")

We seem to be living in similar times. Smack in the middle of another communication revolution. Things that were once the domain of a few: publishing, photography, encyclopedias, and even mass-merchandising are now accessible to the masses. We can ignore it and hope it will go away, or we can embrace it and become literate.

Change is never easy. But sometimes, it can be really fun.
